My girl and I are going up to Bangkok leaving Hat Yai by train the day after tomorrow and I was wondering if you guys know some awesome places along our way at the coast where we can get cheap accommodation, good food and nice snorkeling spots? You know how dangerous the 4 southern provinces are right? OK, so there's a Colgate commercial with an English speaking Asian couple doing Hat Yai to the point, EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY outside of Thailand has a DO NOT GO TO HAT YAI warning. level 2 No need to freak out, there's an occasional bomb, but overall, Hat Yai and Songkla cities are no more dangerous than, say, Brooklyn. It's firmly under control of the Thai army. Unfortunately, same cannot be said of the soutnermost 3 provinces.
