Simonsig Wine Estate Accommodation
Simonsig have a large portfolio of wines, and are one of the few wine farms in South Africa to have an onsite bottling line. Simonsig's flagship wine is a Bordeaux blend called Tiara, which was first produced in 1990. Other important wines include a single-vineyard Syrah called Merindol, an oaked Chenin Blanc aptly named Chenin Avec Chêne, the full-bodied Aurum Chardonnay, a Pinotage which was the first red wine to be released by Simonsig in 1970, and a unique blend of Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot named for the estate's founder. Simonsig also has a single-site 100-percent Cabernet Sauvignon named The Garland. Simonsig is, however, most famous for its sparkling wines. What's noteworthy to mention is the fact that they are one of the vendors offering reservation bookings via emailing services. So... we tried it and was awesome-lii surprised that only five minutes after pressing the send button my cell-phone buzzed with a sms notification that our booking was confirmed, wow this is definite-lii a plus for the business. Even when we increased our number of patrons we received the same response. Now we find ourselves here again exact-lii one year later to date when celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary here with an incredible dinner and coming in the day time we had more time to real-lii explore this venue and all its facilities and real-lii appreciate the stunning beautiful scenic Stellenbosch with all its greenery of the acres of grape-vines and the distant mountain ranges. Parking is not a problem as there is ample place even for the busses as it is today with the many foreign visitors been bussed in. The restaurant building is big with the wine-tasting room right next door where the wine sales also takes place.

"No" we do not offer a starter size of anything or starters. "No" we do not place salt and pepper mills... at the table... It insults the kitchen. This is how you celebrate Valentine's Day at Cuvee in the Simonsig Winery property. A diner could do better eating in town at this price point and with this attitude. The portion size is so small that you get the impression that the restaurant is serving tapas. The service is so respectful of your personal space that a sky flare is needed to order a bill. The prior reviews of flies and the like have not motivated any obvious changes. Nature is great... Ebola? Not so much. There is a hoof and mouth issue in this province so hygiene might be a touch higher on the priority list at Cuvee. In all, the staff are very friendly and professional. The location is Winelands perfect. The food is very random in its successful delivery - the cauliflower risotto was suitable for a patient just released from ICU. The crispy duck was tasty and nicely done but the so small it ranked as a starter size at gourmet main course V&A Waterfront prices.
